About
They have tons of information on their website: https://lancasterfarmfresh.com, but to sum up: you pay upfront a set price for a type of share for a set number of weeks. Then, LFFC makes weekly deliveries of your paid-for shares to your selected pickup site. You pick up from the pickup site. In this case, the pick up site is Greenbelt.
It’s not limited to vegetables – there are options for chicken, eggs, flower bouquets, and more. That’s the beauty of buying from a co-op of more than 100 farmers.
You don’t get to pick what goes in your box. It’s not like those “ugly produce” businesses or online shopping where you add to cart every week and get it delivered to your house. You’re putting your trust in the farmers to put together a weekly box. In my experience, the produce is always good, high quality, keeps really well, and is a good price. I am happy with what LFFC picks and sends every week.
You can buy a share at any time and pay only for the remaining weeks in the season. Seasons are approximately:
Summer = April-October
Fall = November-December
Winter = January-April
Small shares are 4 items, good for individuals.
Medium shares are 7-8 items, good for voracious individuals, couples, small families, or splitting with a friend.
Large shares at 10-12 items, and I imagine could feed an army.
They update their online “store” every Wednesday with the latest pro-rated price. Make an account and pay by Wednesday to have your first delivery be the next Tuesday.
Here’s the breakdown of the 2023 Summer per-week prices. You do need to pay upfront the full cost of your share; you are not charged weekly.
